Section 1
1. Thank you. My Academic journey has been quite a challenging one. I had my primary education in a public primary school and for some reasons I felt so inferior when I proceeded to a secondary school and this was due to some factors I allowed to consume me as a kid. The motivation came from within and with the help of God, I have been so determined to always be one of the best anywhere I find myself. At some point, I realized I had short attention span and this made it more difficult for me because I had to put on extra work to read most of the notes on my own. My background also pushed me to excel academically because I knew it’s either this way or no other way. The support and encouragement I was receiving was due to my academic performance as a child, so I knew I had to keep doing well.
2. During my undergraduate years, I was involved in a lot of activities such sports, socials, politics, and educational consults. In fact, I hold the record of the highest number of goals scored in football in that faculty. I was part of several committees at both faculty and student union level. I attempted to be the faculty president which was unsuccessful and most importantly, I was elected as Senate President, National Association of Ogun State Students, OOU Chapter in my final year. While being involved in all these, I was fully aware that my priority and the main reason I was in the institution was my academics, I held on to it tightly and made sure I didn’t lose my focus even though it cost me more of staying awake late in the night to read and cover up but I held on to it till the end. These made me got awarded as the Most Outstanding Pharmacy Student of my set.
Session 2
1. As I said earlier, my background was a major clause that activated my passion to learn and chase academic success. I don’t think I had any other option at the early stages of my education. I just had to. The only thing that could have brought me to the same stage with some persons despite the large difference in our backgrounds was my academic success. I think academic success amongst other things gives you a chance to prove yourself at least in some places. I am glad I made the right decision.
2. The most difficult assignment I worked on was my final year project because I got a quite difficult work and I decided to go through the whole process myself right from extraction to screening for activities. It was a great experience and at the end made me fall in love with research. I had about 86 or 88 at the end and it was worth all the stress at the end.
3. The support I was receiving from some individuals during my years of study as an undergraduate helped me remained focus. I appreciate God for the gift of men and my parents for how they wanted me to do well in school. My dad would always tell people about his son doing well in school and this birthed some opportunities for me and I could remember my mum helping me to do the dishes and doing everything I was supposed to do at home just to let me have more time to read while I was in secondary school. I remembered these things daily and they motivated me to remain focused.
Session 3
1. Generally, my goal as a pharmacist is not to be limited to the core roles of producing and dispensing drugs. I want to make significant contributions to the healthcare sector as a whole through innovations and researches.
2. Academic achievements do not guarantee anything but it only prepares the way for you. I’m just going to build on it and make it work for me. There are many opportunities that academic achievement is just one of the several requirements. So much work need to be done and I will get there.
3. We were thought in school about being a 7- star Pharmacist. The skills include caregiver, communicator, decision-maker, teacher, lifelong learner, leader and manager. These skills will help anyone succeed in any area of practice as long as Pharmacy profession is concerned.
Session 4
1. The most important lessons I learnt in school were not in academics but on relationships with people. My involvement in different things got me exposed to a lot of relationships with made me see life differently and the lessons learnt from them are personal. I’m glad I experienced them all as they’ve shaped how I see things and how I need to take extra cautions while making some decisions.
2. Yes, I received a lot of criticisms mostly about me being ambitious and I don't blame them for having small minds They only made me better and stronger. I really will not like to talk about them out of respects to the people involved.
3. I managed my academics in school with a lot of activities and I excelled in all of them including my academics. So tell me one thing I won’t be able to excel in? None I think. I’m ready for anything and I trust myself to always do well.
Session 5
1. To any student reading this, my advice to you is that you’re your self's competitor and no one is at your level. Your goal should be, to be better than what you were the last time. Don’t ever feel inferior to anyone or any system. As long as you’re getting better everyday, you will surely outgrow that system in no time. Your background shouldn’t stop you but rather fuel your efforts to be successful at anything you do. While being in school, don’t restrict yourself to academics alone, try to get involved in things that allow you to engage in what interests you naturally asides your field of study and from there, you start discovering what your actual passion is.
2. Well, knowing fully well that I have developed interest in research lately following my final year project work. I would have spent more time in the laboratory and on more research work.
3. As I said, the academic achievements isn’t enough as I still have a lot of work to do which I trust myself well enough to do. I only have an advantage at hand and I hope to use it well.
My biggest accomplishments are not really the things I have gotten or made for myself but the number of people I have impacted positively in one way or the other. I really want to do more because I know the significance of some things missing at an instant and I am looking forward to launching an NGO that addresses this very soon and that will be one of my biggest accomplishments I will forever be proud of.
Thank you.
