"To everyone who has a Plan B, Keep going for it and balance the beam nothing is promised as well education remains the priority for now. Don't Let it Slack"

Kindly introduce Yourself sir:

I am Odusowo Oladipupo, a 400lvl Law student of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Doubling as a Singer and Songwriter.

 2) How do you balance your time as a law student and also pursuing your music career?

Time management is a very important tool when balancing both lifestyles and the fact that I have tried to embody those two sides of myself in one, it has been easier to balance both careers.

3)How did you come about the name "Standard Dii"?

I really don’t get to share this a lot, but I got the name "Standard Dii" the weirdest way possible, basically during my time as a Jambite,  attended my first tutorial and the tutor could alone identify me with my Liverpool Jersey Sponsor "Standard Chartered" calling out the first-word standard and my mate started picking up the nickname. By the way, YNWA.
This was even before I started my music career and when I started I Crafted Standard Dii.

4)Have you ever found any overlap between the two fields?

Well, Law and Entertainment are far-fetched with the intellectual property field of law, as an Artiste, I fall perfectly in line as I acquire and acknowledge my rights and privileges and also seek to help other creatives become aware of these privileges.

5)As a music artist, what is your opinion on copyright laws and how they affect the music industry?

This is becoming more of a legal opinion session, well let’s have it still, Speaking of the copyright laws of Nigeria, it has empowered creatives with the right to own their intellectual property without infringement from third parties.
The Impact of the Copyright Law can not be undermined as Vocals, Instrumentals, and Melodies are now copyrighted to the owner or anyone assigned the rights. Thereby preventing intellectual theft.

6) Have you ever encountered any legal challenges in your music career, and how did you handle them?

Yes I have experienced legal challenges for instance copyright infringement in music where artiste's songs are being used without permissions for commercial purposes, I get to handle and resolved that through agreements and mediations in which I get compensated for breach of my copyright.

7)Do you plan on using your legal education to benefit the music industry in any way?

Ignorance of the law isn't an excuse but we find alot of artistes falling in the pit of signing out their rights to Labels. With my knowledge I would do my bid to sensitize fellow creatives and help curb the violation of creative’s Rights.

8) How has your legal education influenced your approach to writing and producing music?

Honestly, I would say acquiring critical thinking skill  which is one of the important skills required of lawyer, and for you to be creative whether in music or any aspect of life you have to be a great critical thinker.

9) Have you ever used your music to raise awareness about legal issues or advocate for certain causes?

Hmmm, For that question, you can check my discography through Apple Music or Spotify. I can as well say I am an advocate of Emotions, Love, and Light.

10) What advice would you give to other law students who are also pursuing a creative passion outside of their studies?

•To everyone who has a Plan B, Keep going for it and balance the beam nothing is promised meanwhile Education remains the priority for now. Don't Let it Slack.

11) What are your long-term goals for both your legal career and your music career?

Being Realistic, I see myself in a Space where I combine both knowledge and hopefully major in my creative skills.
And for now, do the best I can to promote my brand as an artiste and set myself up for a desired future.
